What does Loc8 Me do?
Loc8 Me lets you instantly share your GPS location with family and friends via SMS or any messaging app. Tap the Share button, the app gets your current location, opens a pre-filled text message with a Google Maps link, and you tap Send. Your recipient gets a link they can open on any phone to see exactly where you are. All your contacts and data are stored only on your device — nothing is uploaded to any server.
How do I share my location via SMS?
Open Loc8 Me, tap "Send SMS," and your iPhone fetches your current GPS coordinates. The Messages app opens with a Google Maps link already filled in — tap Send. iOS requires you to tap Send yourself; no app on iPhone can send SMS automatically. This protects your privacy.
How do I share via WhatsApp, iMessage, or other apps?
Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow) next to the main SMS button. This opens the iOS share sheet, letting you send via iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, or any other app installed on your phone.
How do I add contacts?
Tap the + button at the bottom of the main screen, enter a name and phone number manually (or tap "Import from Contacts" to pick directly from your iPhone contacts), choose a category — Family, Friends, or Emergency Contacts — and tap Save. All contact information is saved only on your device.
Does Loc8 Me access my full contact list?
No. When you tap "Import from Contacts," iOS shows its own built-in contact picker, controlled by Apple, not the app. You select one person, and only that person's name and number are passed to Loc8 Me. You can also type details in manually and skip the contact picker entirely.
Why isn't the SMS button working?
The SMS button requires a cellular plan with SMS/MMS capability. If you're on a data-only or WiFi-only plan, using an iPad without a cellular plan, or your carrier doesn't support SMS, use the Share button instead — it opens the iOS share sheet so you can send via iMessage, WhatsApp, or any other messaging app with no cellular SMS required.
How does the free trial and purchase work?
You get 7 days of full access when you first open the app, no payment required. After the trial, unlock the app permanently with a single one-time payment of $4.99 USD — no subscription, ever. If you reinstall or switch iPhones, tap Settings → Restore Purchases to restore instantly via your Apple ID.
Is Loc8 Me related to FamilySafeAI?
Yes — Loc8 Me is the new name for the app previously called FamilySafeAI, same developer and same App Store listing. We renamed it after an unrelated third party set up a website using the old name to make it look connected to this app. If you've seen a site like that, it isn't ours — the only official pages for this app are on izayn.com/loc8me.
